Katabatic Gear Alsek 22F The Alsek is a lightweight, warm, and premium-quality backpacking quilt designed to deliver restful sleep even during chilly autumn nights. Its innovative design blends comfort, adjustability, and thermal efficiency, making it an ideal choice for hikers, backpackers, and minimalist campers. Engineered for Warmth and Comfort At the heart of the Alsek quilt is its differential cut construction: the outer shell is slightly larger than the inner lining. This clever design prevents the down insulation from compressing when the quilt is tightened in cold conditions, preserving loft and warmth. Many manufacturers overlook this detail, but it’s one of the key reasons why the Alsek performs exceptionally well in low temperatures. The quilt features continuous baffles running from edge to edge, allowing you to shift the down manually depending on the conditions. On warm nights, move the down to the sides or foot area to vent excess heat. In cold weather, redistribute it toward the center for maximum insulation. A thick, down-filled draft collar seals in warmth around your neck without the discomfort of tight drawcords—crucial for maintaining comfort in windy or freezing conditions. The trapezoidal footbox provides a natural sleeping position and extra space for your toes, especially for back sleepers. This section also includes overfilled down chambers to ensure your feet stay warm all night long. Cord Clip Attachment System The patented Cord Clip system makes securing the quilt to your sleeping pad quick and intuitive. Two 2 mm cords loop around your pad, and the quilt attaches to them with low-profile Cord Clips. You can choose between two modes: Free Mode: The quilt can move naturally—ideal for warm nights and active sleepers. Locked Mode: The quilt is fixed tightly to the cords and pad, minimizing drafts while allowing you to fine-tune the fit and volume. The clips are durable, discreet, and remain flat under your body for maximum comfort. Once the cords are in place, simply snap the quilt on, adjust, and enjoy a secure, draft-free sleep wherever you camp.
